News Bulletin

June 11, 2009

Dear Rebecca,

Next Thursday, June 18th, marks the beginning of an important, open-door, community-wide conversation to help shape Richmond's future.

The California Endowment, one of the state's leading funders, is sponsoring a nine-month planning process inviting the community as a whole to develop a strategic plan to improve health and healthy living in Richmond over the next 10 years.

The project's kick-off meeting will be held Thursday, June 18th, from 10:00 AM to Noon at the Nevin Community Center, 598 Nevin Avenue at 6th Street in Richmond.
Plant gowing in crackWe at Further The Work are eager to join with a wide array of Richmond's constituents -- residents, community-based organizations, municipal leaders, senior school-district administrators, and the philanthropic community -- to engage in a facilitated, collaborative, transparent, and intentional extended conversation to foster Richmond's future as a vibrant, healthy, just, and inclusive community.

The California Endowment is acting as the host for this planning process, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts will serve as the administrative manager, coordinating and disseminating information.

We hope you'll help spread the word about this opportunity for community-wide planning, and we look forward to seeing you there!

And as always, we welcome your comments and questions. E-mail us any time, at
Best to all,
